Love is Everything – An Interview with Honey & the Hound

Definitely not your average Rock n’ Roll folk music duo.

Honey and the Hound brings a sweet perspective and outlook on love creating harmonic melodies wherever they go. Their music is about togetherness, gathering people through the love in their music, and although, knowing that life could get hectic at times, it isn’t the end all be all. Heart-breaks happen but new romance blossoms as well and that is what they’re bringing to the table, musically. They’re opening doors for others through an emotional wavelength of healing vibrations while walking through their very own door of sound and love.

Honey and the Hound is made up of PJ Bruno and Carli Naff. Carli has been writing songs since the age of sixteen and brings a certain artistic exuberance to their music and song-writing. PJ, although not classically trained, writes music as well and always finds a way to bring out his passion for music and love in his songs. They both spend a lot of time focusing on their lyrics making sure it always expresses exactly what they mean to say.

“We don’t want anything that is subpar.” Its this mentality of perfection that has skyrocketed Honey and the Hound upon the music scene and continues to offer them a chance to share their beautiful memories and see it strike the chords of love amongst their audiences.

After their first show at RaR Bar in Astoria and then being featured on Public Access TV in the Bronx, this duo has been unstoppable. PJ Bruno and Carli Naff’s love for bouncing ideas off of each other has created an enigma of beautiful and pleasant folky love songs. They have created 9 original songs and continue to create more everyday. These heavy heartfelt songs send off a vibration and cater to those too busy to remember the sweet smoothness that is Love.

Their music revolves around all types of love, from a mother’s love to romantic love.

“It’s an open, shared experience… sharing the love energy and shifting vibrations…” Carli says. And it’s not just about love and sweet memories but its about making people feel okay with feelings that may not feel so good, the negative ones so to speak. Because sometimes it may not seem good at first, but it always gets better. This remarkable concept is echoed in their songs and are why people gravitate to their music.

It isn’t just a show, “… we’re not singing at people, we’re singing with people”, PJ says.

After meeting on Bumble, the infamous dating app, PJ and Carli hit it off in the best way possible, synchronizing their harmonic melodies of love and heartbreak. Both Carli and PJ enjoy working with each other’s creative process very much so, they balance each other so well and speak of each other in a love that we can all admire. PJ loves that Carli has a technical background in music and brings a certain “rawness” to the table and Carli loves that collaborating with PJ has opened new opportunities for her music career.

They have become very good friends while embracing their creative pursuits and it to them is more important than anything. This experience is not just for their audience, but it is a “…cathartic thing for themselves,” Carli goes on to say, “we want to illicit a response.” Whilst playing, they feel they’re enriching their own lives as well and can feel the positive vibrations reflecting back to them from their audiences. The beauty of their work shines when they play and their fans not only see it but feel it as well.

“We want to bring people back to the more meaningful things in life.”
